Nevada Jones, is a composer, singer (countertenor), voice teacher, and proud member of the talented faculty at VOX Academy. His vocal interests have taken him to Schubert lieder, Baroque opera, and French and English art song, but as a voice teacher he loves working with singers of all stripes (including singer-songwriters) just as much as with classical vocalists.
He began playing the piano at age three, and has been writing original music for as long as he can remember. Lately, his music has been featured in various short films and theatrical productions, and he is currently writing the music for his first full-length opera. Nevada also has a background in theater, having performed in community theater productions and short films. He studied acting with George Morrison at the New Actors’ Workshop in New York City.
Nevada believes that music should emanate more from the heart than from the mind. As a composer, he is mostly self-taught. He studied music in academia, but never found a sense of belonging in that environment. Luckily for him, some brilliant individuals have appeared in his life as mentors, teachers, collaborators and advocates for his musical dreams, and from whom he continues to learn about the mysteries of music and of life.
Nevada has studied voice for seven years with Linda Brice, founder of the Transformational Voice Institute, and is, himself, a Transformational Voice-Certified voice teacher. Using the holistic voice training methodology that helped to free his own voice, he feels privileged to witness vocal growth in his own students at VOX Academy.
